Hey, an update

Wow, it seems it’s almost been two years since I updated our blog. Time definitely does not stand still.

So much has happened in the two years since our marriage on the 31st of May. We had a wonderful honeymoon in Mozambique, started creating a home together, Victoire changed her job, I’ve had a promotion, we’ve changed church, started leading a lifegroup and now we’re entering the next phase of our lives.

We’ll be writing some posts to update you on what’s been happening and what we’re planning for the future. Hope you stay tuned, we’re looking forward to your comments.

Last week Sunday (11 May) we had our engagement photoshoot with our two photographers Dror and Vicky. They are really cool people and they made us feel so relaxed during the shoot.

We didn’t know what to expect when Dror suggested that we go to the Veldskoen drive-in theater in Randburg for the shoot. But we were game for anything and ready in a flash - all dressed up for a night out at the “movies”.

We did crazy funny stuff and had lots of laughs (and kisses) during the shoot. There were quite a few times that we had to remind ourselves that we were being photographed. By the sound of it Dror must have taken over a 1000 pictures…he practically kept his finger firmly on the shutter button.

What came out of it was something spectacular. We love this picture too.

We can’t wait to see the rest. Now we’re looking forward to the actual day - which is less than 11 days away.

It’s all very exciting..

Eish….who knew suit shopping could be so difficult?

Luckily I’ve been exposed to enough Men’s Health Magazines, listened to many women around the office and have been lectured long enough by close family over the years to know that one doesn’t just slap on the first available suit for your wedding.

Photo page updated

Hi folks,

Just a short notice to let you know that I’ve updated the links on the photos page. As some of you may have noticed, it was linking to my own profile on Flickr, instead of our joint Our love Flickr account.

I sorted the engagement party pictures with tags and uploaded pictures of the proposal, in Harkerville Forest, Knysna (more on this later).

So without further ado, please view our updated photos on our photos page. Why not leave us a message or comment too - we’d really appreciate it.

All the more inviting

Paula has designed stunning wedding invitations for us… we’re so pleased with the way they’ve turned out.

Due to our having more email addresses than postal addresses for our family and friends we decided to send out the invitations via email as a PDF attachment, and then to print the rest. I was so relieved at this decision when it came to printing and putting the invitations together! Although they look really stunning printed - with the textured card, fine overlay, gold detail, and ribbon - it would’ve taken so much time to get through them all. I hope to incorporate some of the printed invitation elements into the rest of the wedding stationery, so that the rest of the guests can experience them too…

All in all we’ve had a wonderful response to the emailed invitations, which is awesome.

I am so happy that this is done, I was worrying that we were running behind schedule… Now I can breathe a sigh of relief and move onto the next challenge.

Wedding blog taking shape

Just a quick update from the groom-to-be. Both Victoire and I (Nico) have been spending numerous hours trying to get the right theme for our wedding blog and finally we got something that we think we both like.

There’s been quite a few tweaks to the theme and we hope that you find it easy to navigate and hopefully interesting to read. Obviously we will be tinkering with the theme till we get everything just right, so please be patient.

In the meantime, let us know what you think of the design and functionality.

Inviting

Hooray! Our invitations are almost done. Nico and I went around to Paula and Brandon’s place for a chat and to look at the first draft. We liked what Paula had designed straight away, so just have to check the details before we can start printing. Oh, and there’s this minor thing about finding (suitable) paper and ribbon…

By Invitation Only

Our wedding is fast approaching (just over two months!), and we still don’t have invitations. Excuse me while I take a deep breath…

This is the one item I am the most clueless about. Somehow I thought that I could just hand this task over to my little sister, who is designing them for us, and go with whatever she came up with. Clearly not. We have to come up with a brief first… and I need some education on invitations, fast!

The Internet is a marvelous source of information. I have “aaah”ed, “ooooh”ed and “euw”ed my way through a myriad of digital representations of (mostly) paper manifestations. Am I closer to a decision? No. But I have a better idea of what I like! I hope…
